Lime paint Calciana

- Lime paint is a “traditional” product, which is now widely used due to its unique properties.
- Because of its constituents, Lime Paint Calciana is suitable for application on loam, calciferous materials, cement–based materials, natural stone, brick, mineral bases, etc. provided they are suitable or have been specially prepared.
- Suitable for use on historic buildings and for sustainable construction.
- Lime Paint Calciana is a highly effective liquid “paste” with excellent covering power.
- Made from dispersed hydrated lime and natural fillers but does not contain any synthetic binding agents.
- The top layer has a matte appearance, is purely mineral, has moisture-regulating properties and is exceptional vapour permeability.
- In addition to the standard white colour, we have put together a range of colours, which can be supplied “in pots”, using the Monicolor system and P, D and TR bases.
The most classic methods are the following:
The “Secco” technique
- The first layer of Lime Paint Calciana is applied using an appropriate brush.
- Leave it to dry for at least 8 hours and apply the top coat. For some colours, a third layer may be required after another 8 hours of drying time.
The “Bagnato” technique
- The first layer of Lime Paint Calciana is applied using an appropriate brush.
- Leave it to dry for at least 8 hours and lightly moisten the entire dried layer.
- Apply a top coat to the damp surface before it dries.
- Too much moisture can cause a powdery top coating! For some colours, a third layer may be required after another 8 hours of drying time, applied in the same manner.

Processing: | Stir thoroughly and carefully until a lump-free, homogenous “paste” is obtained. A wide range of methods can be used to apply lime paint, in order to obtain unique and decorative results. Except for the white paint, which can also be applied using a roller or airless paint sprayer,it must always be applied using an appropriate brush (or a block brush). In order to prevent overlapping, large areas must be painted “wet on wet” as a single coat. |
